Most wheel companies start with a product. HED started with a problem.
Back in the 1980s, Steve Hed looked at the wheels cyclists were racing on and saw something obvious that everyone else seemed to miss: aerodynamics mattered at the wheel, not just the frame. So he started experimenting in the garage, testing rim profiles and carbon layups that no one else was building at the time.
That obsession turned into the first aero cycling wheel, and eventually into HED Cycling. Decades later, the same engineering-first thinking still drives everything we build. We don't release a wheel until it solves something real, something a rider actually feels on the road or trail.
